Learning at your pace

Driving Lessons That Put You at Ease.

Nerves are normal. Most people feel them in the first few lessons, and plenty feel them much longer than that. It is not a problem to be fixed — it is something we plan around.

  • Nervous learners who want to start slowly
  • Anxious drivers who need a calm, predictable lesson structure
  • Complete beginners who have never sat in the driver's seat
  • Adults returning to driving after years away
  • Learners who simply need a slower pace and more repetition
  • New UK residents adapting to driving on the left

Tell us what you find difficult when you get in touch — whether that is roundabouts, motorways, being watched, or simply getting started. Your first lesson will be planned around it.

FAQ

Questions, Answered.

If your question is not here, ask us directly — we would rather explain it properly than leave you guessing.

How old do I need to be to start driving lessons?

You can start learning to drive a car at 17, or at 16 if you receive the enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment. You will need a valid UK provisional driving licence before your first lesson, so apply for it a few weeks in advance.

Do you offer automatic lessons?

Yes. Automatic lessons remove clutch control and gear changes, which lets you concentrate on observation, road position and hazard awareness. They are a popular choice for nervous learners, returning drivers and anyone who plans to drive an automatic car.

Do you offer manual lessons?

Yes. Learning in a manual car means you can drive both manual and automatic vehicles once you pass, which is useful if you might drive a work vehicle or a family car later on.

How much are driving lessons?

Our current hourly rate and block-booking prices are listed on the pricing page. Block bookings work out cheaper per hour than paying lesson by lesson. If you would like a quote for a specific number of hours, send us a message and we will confirm the cost before you book anything.

How many lessons will I need?

It genuinely varies. The DVSA suggests that many learners need a substantial number of professional hours plus private practice, but the right number depends on how often you drive, how quickly you build confidence and whether you have any prior experience. Your instructor will give you an honest view after your first few lessons and update it as you progress.

Can I book a single lesson?

Yes. You can book lessons one at a time with no commitment. Many learners start with a single lesson to see how they get on, then move to a block booking once they know the instructor suits them.

Do you offer intensive driving courses?

Yes. Intensive courses concentrate your hours over a shorter period and are built around your current ability, your availability and your test date. We start with an assessment so the plan is realistic rather than generic.

Can I change from manual to automatic?

Yes, and it is more common than people expect. If manual is causing more stress than progress, switching to automatic often gets learners back on track quickly. Talk to your instructor and we will move you across without losing the skills you have already built.

Do you pick learners up from home?

Yes, within the areas we cover. We can collect you from home, work, college or university and drop you off at a different address if that is easier — just let your instructor know in advance.

Do you cover my postcode?

We cover Manchester and much of Greater Manchester. Use the postcode checker on the areas page for a quick indication, then message us with your full postcode and we will confirm availability and instructor coverage.

Can nervous learners book lessons?

Absolutely, and a lot of our learners start out nervous. Lessons begin on quiet roads at a pace you set, with clear explanations and no pressure to progress before you are ready. Tell us how you are feeling when you get in touch and we will plan the first lesson around it.

Can I choose my instructor?

Where availability allows, yes. Tell us your preferences — including transmission type and preferred instructor — when you enquire and we will do our best to match you.

How do I book my practical test?

Practical tests are booked through the official GOV.UK service using your provisional licence and theory test pass certificate. Speak to your instructor before booking so you choose a date that matches your progress, and check car availability with us if you plan to use ours.
